Water connectors are important plumbing equipment for your sinks and other appliances. They are sturdy hoses that connect these appliances to your building's water supply. Here is a quick and helpful overview of installing water connector hoses and understanding their use.
Some faucets actually come with connector hoses. Many others, however, do not; therefore, it is helpful to read up on how the hoses work. The hoses come in a couple of different varieties; they can be either copper or rubber. The former is durable and sturdy but cannot bend or twist easily. The latter, on the other hand, is flexible despite not having the same level of protection as copper hoses.
Before you install any connector hose, you want to make sure that your water supply is off. Next, turn on your faucet or faucets to drain the water still inside of them. Finally, you attach the connector to the supply line either by screwing the connector's adapter to the supply or by securing whatever fastener is on the connective end. This will depend on the make and material of your connector hose.
Any leaks in your appliances may be the result of a faulty connector hose or its connection to your supply. If your hose is related to the cause of the leak, there are several options you can consider, such as tightening the connection, using Teflon tape, and reconnecting the hoses.
The last but still critical thing to remember about connector hoses is measurements. You should take into account the dimensions of the connector hose, what length you will require, the location of your water supply relative to your appliances, and the size of the water supply connection point.
As you can see, it doesn't take a plumber to know how these connectors work. Learn the basics, learn your needs, and running water is all yours.
