Although food blenders may look like the garden-variety blenders in any bar, they are anything but.
Food blenders have sharper and more powerful blades than their other counterparts. This allows them to cut dense materials that other blenders cannot handle. Food blenders are used for chopping, blending, and emulsifying these materials. They can be used to make beverages, but their real utility lies in their other applications. Sauces and condiments like pesto, mayonnaise, hummus, and salsa can be made easily using a food blender. Even ice cream bases for desserts are possible thanks to the power and capabilities of these models.
There is a lot of versatility to work with here, but it is important to know how to use these appliances before getting started. For starters, any large, solid foods should be cut into pieces before being put into the blender. The blender blades are sharp, but they aren't butcher knives; the ingredients need to be prepared before they can be smoothly pureed, blended, chopped, and so on.
It is also important to avoid filling the blender container all the way to the top. When the ingredients in a blender are being processed, the resulting contents may expand, which could cause an overflow of liquids or solids.
Finally, it is worth noting that while food blenders are tougher than regular blenders, they aren't made to process everything. That is why it is critical to take into account how solid a piece of food is before tossing it into the blender. For instance, tough meats like beef may prove too difficult for the blender to slice up; attempting to do so anyway could lead to the blender overheating. Use both personal research and careful consideration to determine which ingredients are okay to use in a food blender.
