Food Cutters

From knives to cleavers and other bladed tools, kitchen staff have no shortage of ways to turn food product into useable ingredients or main courses. That said, doing all of that work manually can be a challenge, especially during the dinner rush. To that end, it is important to explore more time-efficient means for cutting up food—such as food cutters.

Food cutters, also known as food processors, are machines that expedite the process of breaking down food items for use in the kitchen. They typically have a rotating gear that cuts food into pieces and a large bowl that holds the final product. While some have a crank, lever, or handle that must be manually operate to process food, many other models are electrically powered and require little to no human input to work.

Why use a food cutter as opposed to your own hands and manual tools? Typically, it is to expedite making certain dishes with many chopped or cut ingredients. Medleys, chutney, salsa, and more require plenty of cutting, which is why using a food cutter can be useful for time and effort's sake. Before using one, however, it is important to take into account the size and quantity of food being put into the machine; putting too much could damage or even break the machine.

Overall, food cutters are a welcome addition to any kitchen's collection of tools. Easy to use and immensely helpful in any foodservice environment, they are invaluable to streamlining and simplifying the kitchen workflow.
