Wild About Wings: Why The Restaurant Industry Has A Growing Interest In Wing Concept Restaurants

It is often said that variety is the spice of life. When it comes to chicken wing concept restaurants, truer words have never been spoken. The chicken wing has not only become a trending menu item—it has become a popular cornerstone and foundation for new restaurant owners seeking a central nucleus to build their business around. There are several key factors that have led to the rise of wing concept restaurants.

Wings represent unique opportunities for owners to experiment and think outside the box.  It isn't just a matter of Buffalo and barbecue sauce anymore—wing concepts have expanded to include bold flavor blends and international tastes. This has led to differentiation and healthy competition among wing concept establishments. One of the best ways these owners set themselves apart is to experiment with the sauces, marinades, and spices used on their wings.

Wing concepts are also popular because of their lower price point. Because of the smaller sizes of chicken wing meals compared to other foods, owners can generally afford to set lower prices for their items. This is undoubtedly a big draw for customers. Additionally, many customers see chicken wings more as entrees than as small finger foods meant to hold someone over.

Finally, wing concepts have a significant cost-saving boon in their favor: reduced equipment costs. Outside of fryers and associated accessories, there is not much kitchen hardware to buy, maintain, and repair. Additionally, many fryers come equipped with self-maintaining technologies that make it easier than ever to keep them going, such as oil auto-change systems. In short, one of the perks of running a wing concept restaurant is the ability to streamline production and limit spending on potentially expensive equipment.

Chicken wings may be small, but their market potential is immense. As they continue to grow in popularity, so too will the number of wing-centric restaurants and menus.
