Burgers are not only staples of American cuisine, but they are also ubiquitous in the entirety of the restaurant industry. While classic, old-fashioned burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese are still loved to this day, there is more than enough room for experimentation and change.
Healthier burgers are an example of this experimentation. While that prospect may conjure images of vegan patties, the reality is more than just that. Rather, the key is the kind of ingredients used in beef burgers. For example, Epic Burger, a Chicago-born fast-food brand, prioritizes halal Black Angus beef and obtaining supplies directly from local farms as opposed to more industrialized sources. Another fast-food restaurant, Seven Brothers Burgers, utilizes in-house ingredients fresh and chemical-free beef patties. Such establishments, which are steadily growing with multiple locations across the nation, have found success with customers by being more mindful of what goes into the customers' orders.
Aside from thinking healthy, burger restaurants are also leaning into unique identities and creations in order to appeal to customer bases. The Habit Burger Grill, a burger restaurant in California, offers other items besides burgers; among these items are a chicken club on sourdough bread and a sushi-style ahi tuna sandwich. Epic Burger has pursued special limited offers with unique ingredients, such as shallots or bacon jam. The burger, being as prevalent as it is, needs an extra twist or accompaniment to truly stand out in today's competitive burger restaurant landscape.
Burgers may be old, but they are far from out of date. From new recipes to new business methods, burgers stand the test of time as true kings of the restaurant industry.
